The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative
Dunstable in Bloom joined the Town Mayor of Dunstable, Cllr Gloria Martin and other community organisations, school children and local residents on 11th March 2022 to plant trees at the Mentmore Recreation Ground as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.
This was not only to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty, but also to contribute to the protection of the local environment.
Trees are oxygen, and oxygen is life therefore, spades, shovels and rakes were in motion – each participant, regardless of age, contributed to planting 20 trees. Despite the physical effort, the smiles did not disappear from the faces of everyone involve.
We did a great job together.

Spring 2020 news
Announcement regarding Covid-19 (coronavirus) Pandemic 20 March 2020
Due to the recent worldwide outbreak of Covid-19, Anglia in Bloom have announced that, after careful consideration, they have decided not to undertake any Anglia in Bloom judging in the Anglia region in 2020.
Whilst this is extremely disappointing news Dunstable in Bloom supports this decision.
It is hoped that the local Dunstable in Bloom competitions to find the best floral displays, gardens, environmental projects and allotments around the town can still go ahead with judging taking place in late July and early August. However, the situation will be kept under review.
For up to date information please follow us on Facebook.
Please do continue, where possible, to take your projects forward as best you can in a safe manner and taking account of Government guidance and restrictions. Dunstable in Bloom volunteers are hoping they will be able to do their bit to keep the town looking as nice as possible.
Let’s hope that we can bounce back with an even bigger effort in our town in 2021
Thank you for your cooperation.
